A Question for Recruiters & Hiring Managers 🤔

I have a question for recruiters and hiring managers that many job seekers may have wondered about.

If a candidate applies for a position and is rejected, but 6 months later the same position is posted again, and the candidate applies again with the same or even an improved resume — why might they not receive an interview call?

Does the previous rejection continue to affect the candidate’s future applications?

For example, could the company’s ATS or recruitment system automatically screen out someone who was previously rejected for the same role?

Or is each new application reviewed independently based on the candidate’s current qualifications and experience?

I completely understand that companies receive hundreds of applications and that hiring decisions depend on many factors. However, it would be helpful for job seekers to understand whether reapplying after 6 months is actually worthwhile, or whether a previous rejection can significantly impact future applications.

Recruiters and hiring managers — what is your perspective?

And job seekers, have you experienced something similar?

Would love to hear your thoughts.
